How to prepare for Investment Banking Campus Recruitment Events!

Here's our quick snapshot of how you should prepare for upcoming campus recruitment events!

Firstly, review the list of banks that will be at the event before going so that you can have a clear plan of which firms and individuals you want to approach. There will usually be a list of banks attending & their representatives that are published before the event.

Secondly, ensure you do some research on your target banks and individuals. The best way to secure an opportuntiy from one of these events is to build rapport fast with a representative from the firm. Ask questions to the representative and also prepare a short elevator pitch about yourself to let them know about your experience.

Questions that you may ask representatives may be:

• How long have you been at [Company]?

• What do you like about [Company]?

• What’s your favorite thing about your job?

• What do you really enjoy about this role in particular?

• What does growth and development look like at [Company]?

• How does [Company] support its employees as they look to grow and level up their skills and responsibilities?

• I imagine that [innovation at the company or change in the industry] will change how you’re working on [project or product].

• How are you developing your workforce to keep up with this?

• How does [Company] work to upskill and reskill its employees?

• I recently read an article about [event, announcement, or news related to the company]. What was it like to be a part of that?

• I know you’ve just announced a strategy change. How is that shift taking place internally?

Also, ensure that you follow up with everyone you meet with.....especially the company representatives! you may ask:

• What’s the best way to stay in touch with you?

• What would be a great next step to take after meeting you here?
